Russell Public Communications Shines at Public Relations Society of America IMPACT Awards
Earns Five Awards, Including Best in Show for Campaign of the Year
October 27, 2010 (Tucson, Ariz.) As part of the celebration marking its 30th anniversary, the Tucson chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) hosted its inaugural IMPACT Awards for excellence in public relations at a gala event last night. Twenty-one awards were presented to organizations and agencies, with Russell Public Communications taking home five, including the coveted Best in Show in the Campaign category for its work with the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA).
IMPACT Award submissions were solicited in a variety of categories for individual tactics and full campaigns that were implemented between January, 2009 and June, 2010. To ensure impartiality, the submissions were judged independently by members of the Hampton Roads, Virginia PRSA chapter, and were scored on the four-step process of research, planning, implementation and results.
Russell Public won IMPACT Awards in the categories of Integrated Communications Campaign, Media Relations, and Interactive Communications/Websites, as well as a special Certificate of Merit in the Newsletters/Magazines category. The Integrated Communications entry, which also won Best in Show for Campaigns, was for work conducted around CTCA's 2009 sponsorship of the Tennis Championship in Surprise, Arizona. To leverage this high-profile sponsorship, Russell Public recommended an integrated campaign to raise awareness of CTCA's unique model of care. The centerpiece of these activities was a Nintendo Wii tennis tournament held onsite at the hospital, between celebrity tennis pros and CTCA patients and employees. Efforts resulted in extensive media coverage, enhanced relationships with community leaders and significant funds raised to benefit local non-profit, Arizona Assistance in Healthcare.
“It's truly an honor for the entire Russell Public team to be recognized by our peers in this way,” said Matt Russell, CEO of Russell Public Communications. “It's also an honor to work with such great clients, whose outstanding organizations we have the privilege of representing here tonight,” he continued. “All of this year's honorees should be congratulated on their award-winning work, and proud of their accomplishments in advancing the field of public relations.”
The agency's media relations award was conferred for its work with the Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation, and the website award was conferred for its work with the Center for Neurosciences. The Certificate of Merit in the newsletters category was for Russell Public's work with the Special Needs Alliance.
